Brazil's Haddad says US showed openness to tariff talks
SAO PAULO, May 9 (Reuters) - Brazil's Finance Minister Fernando Haddad said on Friday that U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent signaled there is room for tariff negotiations with countries with which the United States runs a trade surplus.
Speaking to reporters about his meeting with Bessent, which took place on Sunday in Los Angeles, Haddad said the U.S. official acknowledged it was disproportionate to impose tariffs on countries in such a position.
