The Canadian dollar weakened against the greenback on Tuesday, and the yield on benchmark government debt climbed.
The loonie CAD= was trading 0.1% lower at C$1.4187 to the greenback, or 70.49 U.S. cents, after trading in a range of 1.418 to 1.4212.
Canadian government 10-year bond yields CA10YT=RR rose 8.8 basis points to 3.194%. The yield on similar U.S. government benchmark debt rose to 4.5444%.
U.S. March crude CLc1 futures rose $1.11 to settle at $71.85 a barrel on Tuesday.
Canada's annual inflation rate accelerated to 1.9% in January, up from 1.8% in December, Statistics Canada said. Analysts polled by Reuters had expected an annual rate of 1.9%
