The Canadian dollar weakened against the greenback on Thursday, and the yield on benchmark government debt climbed.
The loonie CAD= was trading 0.2% lower at C$1.4341 to the greenback, or 69.73 U.S. cents, after trading in a range of 1.4312 to 1.4366.
Canadian government 10-year bond yields CA10YT=RR rose 2.3 basis points to 2.974%. The yield on similar U.S. government benchmark debt rose to 4.4242%.
U.S. March crude CLc1 futures rose 54 cents to $71.57 a barrel on Thursday.
