- It will be another busy week for U.S. data and Federal Reserve speakers, as the dust settles after Friday's employment figures. Expect plenty of comments from President-elect Donald Trump's team ahead of his Jan 20 inauguration. Chinese trade, activity and GDP data will also be in focus.

The U.S. data highlights are December PPI and CPI on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively, retail sales on Thursday, and industrial production Friday. Other key data includes the Fed's Beige Book, weekly jobless claims, the Philly Fed Index, and housing starts. Fed speakers include Jeffrey Schmid, John Williams, Austan Goolsbee, Thomas Barkin, and Neel Kashkari.

The raft of Chinese data begins with December trade on Monday, then a break until Q4 and 2024 GDP on Friday, along with December industrial output, retail sales, urban investment, unemployment, and house prices. Lending data is also expected during the week.

Japan has a quiet week for event risk with November current account and trade data and December corporate goods prices. Bank of Japan Deputy Governor Ryozo Himino speaks on Tuesday.

Europe enjoys a low-key week with final euro zone December HICP the main release; November trade and industrial production are also due, and Germany releases 2024 GDP data.

The UK has a busy schedule with December CPI, RPI, PPI and retail sales, November GDP, and manufacturing output. Bank of England External MPC member Alan Taylor speaks on inflation dynamics and the economic outlook.

Australia's December employment data on Thursday will shape Reserve Bank of Australia policy expectations. New Zealand releases its Q4 NZIER confidence survey and food inflation data.

Canada has only house starts and trade figures, but political developments are likely to be in focus following Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's decision to resign. Bank of Canada deputy governor Toni Gravelle speaks on balance sheet normalization.
