- Top White House economic advisor Kevin Hassett said Friday he was not upset about not being selected as the nominee to be the next Federal Reserve chair, and he added the central bank blundered by not cutting interest rates this week.

Asked if the Fed made a mistake when it held its overnight target rate range steady at between 3.5% and 3.75% on Wednesday, Hassett told CNBC “yeah, I do.”

He added “I think President Trump made a great choice” in picking former Fed governor Kevin Warsh to be the next Fed leader.
