OTTAWA, Jan 26 (Reuters) - Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney on Monday said he was not planning to call a snap election later this year.
Recent opinion polls show Carney's popularity is rising and the Liberals enjoying a slight lead over the official opposition Conservative Party. The Liberals won a strong minority in an election last April.
Asked by a reporter whether he might be planning to call a snap election, Carney replied: "Well, of course, we're not. We're not. We're focused on results for Canadians."
