
MEXICO CITY, Sept 19 (Reuters) - Private spending in Mexico accelerated in the second quarter compared with the previous three-month period, registering its fastest growth rate in more than a year, official figures showed on Friday.
Spending in Latin America's second-largest economy increased 1.2% during the second quarter, a growth rate not seen since early 2024. Spending decreased 0.4% in the prior quarter.
Government spending also expanded in the period, up 0.5%, compared to 0.4% in the first three months of the year.
Annually, private spending was 0.4% lower in the second quarter, the national statistics agency said.
Aggregate demand increased 1.4% from the previous quarter, and was up 0.3% from the same period a year earlier.
