Aug 25 (Reuters) - Dallas Federal Reserve Bank President Lorie Logan said on Monday that the Fed should consider a number of communications improvements, including better ways to characterize policymakers' views on the appropriate path of rates and the economy.
"I think it will be important for us to explore ways either in the SEP (summary of economic projections) or perhaps in other vehicles to avoid overemphasizing the median relative to the diversity of views, as well as how we can convey our reaction function to a variety of different scenarios," Logan said at a Bank of Mexico conference.
The Fed also has room to improve how it talks about its balance sheet, and may want to consider whether describing its target policy rate as a range continues to be optimal, she said.
