Goldman sees US effective tariff rate on Brazil imports at 30.8%

ReutersJul 30, 2025 10:52 PM

- Goldman Sachs said the upcoming U.S. effective rate on all Brazilian imports will be 30.8%, six percentage points below a previous calculation, after accounting for a list of exemptions published on Wednesday by the White House.

"Our calculations suggest that the exemptions listed in the Executive Order lower the expected increase in the US effective rate on all Brazilian imports by 6 (percentage points) to a still high 30.8%," Goldman said in a note to clients late on Wednesday.

Goldman said the tariff effect on GDP growth would have a negative impact of 0.15 percentage point on their baseline, but were not making any adjustments to their economic growth forecast given the risk to their current forecast is "skewed to the upside."
