Fed's Powell says central bank working to get HQ renovations done

NEW YORK, July 30 (Reuters) - Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell said Wednesday that President Donald Trump's visit last week to check out the renovations of the central bank's headquarters was welcome, adding the Fed will work to get the project completed.
"We had a nice visit with the President. It was an honor to host him," Powell said at a press conference following the latest Fed meeting.
The Fed has been facing considerable heat from the White House over cost overruns, and Powell noted the Fed is pressing forward to getting the work done. "I was quite pleased to have the President say multiple times that what he really wanted to see was...us getting this construction completed as soon as possible. That is our focus."
