NEW YORK, July 30 (Reuters) - Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell said Wednesday he is expecting a slow process when it comes to understanding how trade tariffs impact inflation.
When it comes to rising import taxes, "a reasonable base case is that these are one-time...price effects," Powell said at a press conference. But at the same time, "I think we've learned that the process will probably be slower than expected" and take time to fully understand.
