JAKARTA, July 9 (Reuters) - Indonesia chief economic minister Airlangga Hartarto is scheduled to meet with U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and other senior officials to negotiate its tariff for shipments to the United States, a ministry official said on Wednesday.
Indonesia's latest proposal, which including increasing purchases from the U.S., was praised by the U.S. government, spokesperson Haryo Limanseto said, adding Indonesia is urging companies to immediately carry out transactions in the pipeline with their U.S. counterparts. A tariff of 32% was imposed on Indonesia, unchanged from that threatened by Washington in April.
