May 30 (Reuters) - Japan's government said on Friday that it has agreed with the United States to accelerate trade talks as their top officials met in Washington for a fourth round of negotiations on U.S. tariffs.
In a 130-mininute meeting, Japan's Economy Minister Ryosei Akazawa, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick agreed that they have deepened their understanding of each other's positions and made progress towards a trade deal, the government said in a statement.
