German economy minister: US remains a partner, need 'sensible' tariff solution

May 15 (Reuters) - German Economy Minister Katherina Reiche said on Thursday that the United States remained a partner, not an opponent, and that the European Union and the U.S. need to find a "sensible" solution to their tariff dispute.
"We are negotiating from a position of economic strength, a position of economic power, which, however, must be used carefully," she added, speaking to reporters in Brussels.
"We must negotiate, we must find a solution, because escalation has no winners."
