WASHINGTON, March 19 (Reuters) - Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell said on Wednesday he is viewing carefully data from the University of Michigan consumer sentiment survey that showed a big gain in expected inflation.
"We look at it. We don't dismiss data that we don't like," Powell said in a press conference following the latest Fed meeting.
But he added the ugly number is "an outlier compared to market-based and compared to other survey-based assessments of longer run inflation expectations."
