India imposes 10% duty on lentil imports

- India imposed a 10% import duty on lentils, including 5% basic customs duty and 5% Agriculture Infrastructure & Development Cess (AIDC) with immediate effect, the government said in a notification late on Friday.

India is the world's biggest importer of lentils and buys the commodity mainly from Canada and Russia.
