Chinese car sales in January fall 12% from a year earlier

BEIJING, Feb 11 (Reuters) - China's car sales fell 12% in January from a year earlier to 1.81 million units, data from the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) showed on Tuesday, as automakers brace for intensified competition in the world's largest auto market.
Sales of electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids grew 10.5% from a year earlier to make up 41.2% of total sales, per CPCA data.
