BERLIN, Jan 21 (Reuters) - A much-delayed scheme to construct gas-to-power plants that the former German government failed to push through remains top priority to create power system security, the head of nationalised utility Uniper UN0k.DE said on Tuesday.
"We believe the power plant strategy to build firm gas capacity must take urgent priority," said CEO Michael Lewis at the Handelsblatt Energy Summit 2025 in Berlin.
The billion euros scheme was abandoned when the former coalition government collapsed late last year, prolonging problems with fluctuating wind and solar electricity production.
