Jan 15 (Reuters) - Chicago Federal Reserve Bank President Austan Goolsbee said Wednesday he still believes inflation is making progress toward the Fed's 2% goal, and is particularly encouraged by recent easing in housing-related inflation and optimistic for a continued economic soft landing in 2025.
At the same time, he said in an economic outlook forum at the Chicago Fed, the recent signs of cooler inflation are discouraging because they fit what has been a persistent pattern of seasonal improvements in price pressures in the second half of each year and a bump upward at the start of each year.
