Demi Moore mightn’t have taken home an Oscar for her role in The Substance but she’s won the award for classiest response from her fans.
The actress was nominated for Best Actress but lost out to Mikey Madison who took home the gong after impressing with her work in the ‘anti-Pretty Woman’ film Anora, which scooped five Oscars on the night.
Sharing a behind-the-scenes video of her time getting ready for the Academy Awards, Demi wrote: ‘As this awards season comes to a close, I’m so overwhelmed with gratitude for this journey. It’s been the ride of a lifetime and we’re just getting started!
‘So grateful for my team, my fellow nominees, and everyone who has made this experience so full of joy and light. Thank you to the cast, crew, and fans of The Substance- @isimostar and @coralie_fargeat it’s been such an honor to work alongside you, learn from you, and celebrate this film with you. And a huge congratulations to #MikeyMadison — can’t wait to see what you do next.’
Demi was flooded with praise for her classy response to losing out on the Oscar, with many saying it was lovely to see her give Mikey a shoutout.
Sarah Paulson led the praise by writing, ‘love you, you are an absolute queen and the classiest of the classy,’ while someone else added: ‘A class act!!! And a winner in my eyes!’
A third fan said, ‘Demi, you are truly iconic, always showing the world what grace, dignity, and class looks like,’ while a fourth told ‘Queen Demi’ to ‘keep shining’.
‘Class act, I’m so happy for you. Thank you for sharing your courage strength and hope with us,’ a fifth penned.
Demi had been hotly tipped to win the Best Actress Oscar and especially so after she secured the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role award at the SAGs.
She held back tears as she spoke at the ceremony in February and detailed how the Screen Actors Guild changed her life.
Demi explained how she had 'no blueprint for life' before joining the guild when she was just 15 years old in 1978 and credited it for giving her 'purpose.'
