US Cash Grains-Corn basis steady to higher as futures seesaw

CHICAGO, May 8 (Reuters) - Basis bids for corn firmed at some ethanol plants and other kinds of processors in the U.S. Midwest on Friday as Chicago Board of Trade corn futures moved choppily around unchanged with renewed fighting between the U.S. and Iran and firmer crude oil prices providing limited support.

• The corn basis rose at ethanol plants in Annawan, Illinois, and Council, Bluffs, Iowa, as well as at a processor in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

• Corn and soybean basis bids fell, however, at a river terminal in Davenport, Iowa.

• Farmers have been active sellers of corn recently as CBOT July corn CN26 prices climbed earlier in the week.

• On the CBOT as of 12:16 p.m. CDT (1716 GMT), July corn CN26 was up 4-3/4 cents at $4.72-1/4 a bushel and July soybeans SN26 were up 16-1/2 cents at $12.08-3/4 a bushel. GRA/
