LNG is "strategic backstop" for Europe, more investments needed, MET Group says

BUDAPEST, May 7 (Reuters) - LNG is now a "strategic backstop" for Europe complementing existing gas pipeline infrastructure and more investments are needed to ensure shipments reach landlocked countries, Luis Sanchez, Head of LNG at MET International AG said on Thursday.
The CEE region should prioritize inland interconnection liquidity for LNG, Sanchez told the Budapest LNG Summit, adding this was "crucial" for the region.
