NEW YORK, May 5 (Reuters) - Gulfport Energy GPOR.N is poised to name Domenic Dell'Osso as the next chief executive of the U.S. natural gas-focused producer, people familiar with the matter said on Tuesday.
The appointment of Dell'Osso, who served as CEO of larger rival Expand Energy EXE.O as recently as February, could be announced as soon as Tuesday, the people said. Gulfport is set to announce its first-quarter earnings after the market close.
The sources spoke on condition of anonymity in order to discuss confidential information.
Gulfport did not respond to a request for comment.
Oklahoma City-based Gulfport has been without a permanent chief executive since it was announcedon March 9 that John Reinhart was leaving the company. Since then, Gulfport, which operates in Appalachian shale basins and Oklahoma's Midcontinent formation, has been run by a board grouping headed by Chairman Timothy Cutt.
Known as Nick, Dell'Osso ran Expand Energy as well as Chesapeake Energy, which combined with Southwestern Energy in 2024 to create Expand. His departure was announced alongside news that Expand was set to move its headquarters to Houston from Oklahoma City by the middle of 2026.
