Dominican Republic's president halts GoldQuest mining project after protests

SANTO DOMINGO, May 4 (Reuters) - The Dominican Republic's President Luis Abinader on Monday ordered an immediate halt of any activity related to the Romero mining project in San Juan province, after protests.
Canada's GoldQuest Mining Corp. had been developing the project. In a statement on Monday it said it recognized the public demonstrations and was committed to a transparent development process.
