CIF/FOB Gulf Grain-Soy, corn barge bids steady-firmer
CHICAGO, May 1 (Reuters) - Spot basis bids for soybeans and corn shipped by barge to U.S. Gulf Coast terminals inched higher on Friday, reflecting exporter demand and thinning farmer grain sales after a flurry of offerings earlier this week, traders said.
At the Gulf, CIF soybean barges loaded in May were bid at 80 cents over Chicago Board of Trade July SN26 futures, up 2 cents from Thursday.
FOB export premiums for Gulf soybean vessels loaded in June held steady at around 96 cents over July SN26 futures.
For corn, CIF barges loaded in May were bid at 83 cents over CBOT July CN26 corn futures, about a penny higher than Thursday's bid of 94 cents over CBOT May futures, given the 12-cent spread between the two futures contracts.
FOB export premiums for Gulf corn vessels loaded in June were unchanged at around 103 cents over July CN26 futures.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture confirmed private sales of 148,240 metric tons of U.S. corn to undisclosed destinations, including 78,240 tons for delivery in the 2025/26 marketing year that began on September 1, 2025, and the remaining 70,000 tons for 2026/27 delivery.
