US grid operator PJM appoints Mills as president, CEO
May 1 (Reuters) - PJM Interconnection, the largest U.S. power grid operator, said on Friday it had appointed David Mills to be its CEO and president.
Mills, who had served as the company's interim CEO and president since January, has been on PJM's Board of Managers since 2021, including as its chair since May 2025, the company said. His new role became effective on Friday.
PJM added that Mills had stepped down as board chair and as a voting member of the board, but will continue to serve on it in a non-voting role.
The grid operator is currently processing new power plant applications after working through a years-long backlog of projects.
PJM, which manages the flow of electricity on transmission lines across 13 Midwest and Mid-Atlantic states, is also facing potential electricity shortfalls as a surge in power demand from data centers outpaces new supply.
