- Basis bids for hard red winter (HRW) wheat were unchanged in the U.S. Plains states on Monday as farmers and market players assessed crop conditions and weather.

  • Weekend rains missed some of the driest areas of the U.S. Plains, an analyst note said.

  • Dryness will continue to cause stress for wheat in the central and western Plains, forecaster Vaisala said.

  • After trading ended, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said 34% of the U.S. winter wheat crop was in good or excellent condition as of Sunday. That was down from 35% a week earlier and 47% a year ago.

  • K.C. May contract KWK26 ended up 12-1/2 cents at $6.03-1/4 a bushel and set its highest price since April 3.
