US Plains HRW Wheat-Spot basis bids flat as crop conditions worsen
CHICAGO, April 13 (Reuters) - Basis bids for hard red winter (HRW) wheat were unchanged in the U.S. Plains states on Monday as farmers and market players assessed crop conditions and weather.
Weekend rains missed some of the driest areas of the U.S. Plains, an analyst note said.
Dryness will continue to cause stress for wheat in the central and western Plains, forecaster Vaisala said.
After trading ended, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said 34% of the U.S. winter wheat crop was in good or excellent condition as of Sunday. That was down from 35% a week earlier and 47% a year ago.
K.C. May contract KWK26 ended up 12-1/2 cents at $6.03-1/4 a bushel and set its highest price since April 3.
