US Cash Grains-Midwest corn basis steady to higher at processors, river terminals

CHICAGO, March 24 (Reuters) - Basis bids for corn were steady to higher at processors and river terminals and steady to lower at elevators in a spot check of locations in the U.S. Midwest on Tuesday as futures firmed.

• Corn basis bids rose 5 cents at a processor in the Chicago, Illinois area and at a river terminal in Morris, Illinois, where barges are loaded to travel to exporters in the Gulf.

• The corn basis fell 2 cents at a grain elevator in Blair, Nebraska.

• The soybean basis rose 5 cents at a grain elevator in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

• Chicago soybean futures dipped on Tuesday on technical selling, while corn moved higher. GRA/

• Market expectations that farmers could trim plantings of input-intensive corn lent it support.

• Rising fuel and fertilizer prices may influence farmers' planting decisions, increasing interest in U.S. Department of Agriculture acreage estimates next week. COR/
