CIF/FOB Gulf Grain-Spot basis bids for soybeans stay largely flat

CHICAGO, March 11 (Reuters) - Spot basis bids for soybeans shipped by barge to U.S. Gulf Coast terminals were largely flat on Wednesday as traders continued to watch for demand from top importer China.

• Traders have been looking for potential sales to China ahead of a summit planned between U.S. President Donald Trump and China's Xi Jinping this month.

• Cargill has paused soybean export operations from top supplier Brazil to China due to changes the Brazilian government made in inspections, the company's Latin America head said.

• Some global buyers had recently turned to Brazil for cheaper soybeans, instead of buying U.S. supplies.

• On Thursday, the U.S. Department of Agriculture is expected to report 2025-26 U.S. soybean export sales of 250,000 to 800,000 metric tons in the week that ended on March 5, according to a Reuters poll.

• CIF Gulf soybean barges loaded in March were bid steady at 69 cents over Chicago Board of Trade May SK26 soybean futures. Barges loaded in April were bid at 77 cents over futures, which was also unchanged.

• Barges loaded in May traded at 85 cents over May futures.

• FOB export premiums for soybeans loaded from the Gulf in March were largely stable at 115 cents over futures.

• CIF Gulf corn barges loaded in March were bid 2 cents lower at 78 cents over CBOT May CK26 futures. April barges were bid at 79 cents, which was up 2 cents.

• FOB corn export premiums for March corn loadings remained about 105 cents over May CK26 futures.
