JAKARTA, March 4 (Reuters) - Indonesia's upstream oil and gas regulator SKK Migas said on Wednesday that well services activity in the ExxonMobil-operated Cepu block has boosted crude oil output by 7,500 barrels per day.
A water shut-off programme at the Banyu Urip A07 well has increased the well's oil output to 12,300 BPD from previously 4,800 BPD, SKK Migas said.
The programme is aimed at stopping unwanted water flow from the lower zone of the well and producing a higher proportion of oil, SKK Migas said.
"The Banyu Urip field has long been known as the backbone of national oil production. Therefore, every additional barrel produced from this field has a strategic impact on maintaining supply stability and strengthening national energy security," SKK Migas said in a statement.
Cepu block, one of the largest oil producing blocks in Indonesia, accounts for about a quarter of the country's oil production last year.
Indonesia has set a target to increase 2026 oil lifting to 610,000 bpd from 605,000 bpd last year.
