BRUSSELS, March 2 (Reuters) - The European Commission said on Monday that Commissioners had reviewed the evolving situation in the Middle East and that it was assessing possible spill-over effects for the European Union.
In a statement, the Commission said it would focus on supporting EU member states in managing any adverse consequences stemming from developments in the region. It added that it is closely monitoring energy prices and supply, and will convene an energy task force with national authorities.
The EU executive is also intensifying its monitoring of potential transport disruptions, particularly around the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea, the statement said.
