CBOT Trends-Wheat up 4-6 cents, corn up 1-3, soybeans up 3-4

- The following are U.S. expectations for the resumption of grain and soy complex trading at the Chicago Board of Trade at 8:30 a.m. CST (1430 GMT) on Friday:

WHEAT - Up 4 to 6 cents per bushel

  • CBOT wheat extended gains Friday on weather concerns and technical support. GRA/

  • Short-covering by investors, encouraged by concerns over the impact of high winds in dry U.S. wheat belts, has pushed wheat prices through chart resistance levels, according to analysts.

  • Global wheat supplies could tighten in the 2026/27 season and corn production may also dip, the International Grains Council said on Thursday.

  • The U.S. Department of Agriculture reported weekly net wheat export sales for the current marketing year at 288,000 metric tons.

  • March soft red winter wheat WH26 was last up 6 cents at $5.65-1/2 per bushel. K.C. March hard red winter wheat KWH26 was last up 2-1/4 cents at $5.67-3/4 per bushel and Minneapolis March spring wheat MWEH26 rose 3/4 cent to $5.83-1/4 per bushel.

CORN - Up 1 to 3 cents per bushel

  • CBOT corn futures Cv1 ticked up on Friday after falling the previous day.

  • U.S. farmers will plant more soybeans and less corn in 2026 than last year, although both harvests were expected to be the second-largest on record, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said on Thursday.

  • The USDA forecast corn plantings at 94 million acres, well below the 94.9 million acres expected by analysts and the 98.8 million harvested this year.

  • The USDA reported net weekly corn export sales for the current marketing year at 1,469,500 metric tons.

  • CBOT March corn CH26 was last up 1-3/4 cents at $4.27-1/2 per bushel.

SOYBEANS - Up 3 to 4 cents per bushel

  • Chicago soybeans ticked up for a fourth session, reaching new three-month highs after a week of demand-driven rallies.

  • Demand sentiment has been boosted by expectations China will buy more U.S. soybeans after this week's Lunar New Year break, and by news of record U.S. soybean crush for January. GRA/

  • The USDA reported weekly net soybean export sales for the current marketing year of 798,200 metric tons.

  • The USDA reported exporters sold 108,000 metric tons of soybeans to Egypt for 2025/2026 delivery.

  • CBOT March soybeans SH26 were up 3-1/2 cents at $11.44-1/2 per bushel.
