US Plains HRW Wheat-Basis bids flat to higher as futures tick down

ReutersFeb 13, 2026 9:33 PM

- Basis bids for hard red winter wheat were steady to up in the U.S. Plains on Friday as futures prices fell back from a rally on Thursday.

  • Sales were minimal this week, as growers had already sold most of their old-crop wheat, according to dealers.

  • Weather in the wheat belt has been warmer than usual and rains are expected in the southern Plains over the weekend.

75% of Southern Plains wheat and 40% of Midwest wheat is expected to move out of dormancy by late February, according to forecaster Commodity Weather Group.

  • K.C. March HRW wheat futures KWH26 settled down 11-1/2 at $5.42-1/2 a bushel.
