US Plains HRW Wheat-Basis bids unchanged in muted trade

ReutersFeb 11, 2026 6:03 PM

- Basis bids for hard red winter wheat were flat in the U.S. Plains on Wednesday as farmers awaited rains expected over the weekend.

  • Trade has slowed as producers seek to procure fertilizer and apply it ahead of weekend showers so the rain can activate the fertilizer.

  • The weekend rains are expected to relieve moisture for parts of the U.S. Plains winter wheat crop.

  • The U.S. Department of Agriculture in Tuesday's monthly supply and demand report raised its forecast of U.S. 2025/26 wheat ending stocks, bucking trade expectations for a reduction.

  • K.C. March HRW wheat futures KWH26 were last up 1-1/2 cents at $5.30-1/4 per bushel as of 10:30 a.m. CST (1630 GMT).
