CHICAGO, Feb 11 (Reuters) - Basis bids for corn and soybeans were steady to higher in the U.S. Midwest on Wednesday in quiet trade, following a largely unsurprising U.S. Department of Agriculture monthly supply and demand report on Tuesday.
Frost laws, which are temporary restrictions on vehicle weights to protect roads from spring thaw damage, may come into effect soon in some Midwestern states.
The corn basis ticked up at an ethanol plant and the soy basis rose at a processor and a river terminal. Basis bids were steady elsewhere.
Chicago soybean futures edged lower on Wednesday as the market took a breather following a recent rally fueled by hopes of stronger Chinese demand, while traders assessed a U.S. government crop report.
Most-active soybeans Sv1 were last down 3-1/4 cents to $11.19-1/4 per bushel, and most-active corn Cv1 was last down 3 cents to $4.26 per bushel as of midday.
