- A hydrocracker at Chevron's CVX.N 285,000-barrel-per-day El Segundo refinery in southern California remains offline following a large fire, with repair efforts still underway, the company said.

A large fire erupted in a Isomax unit, which converts mid-distillate fuel oil into jet fuel, at the refinery in October, disrupting supply in the Golden State's isolated energy market.

The Isomax unit remains down at El Segundo as repairs progress, a company spokesperson said. However, the majority of the plant continues to produce jet fuel and motor vehicle fuels, they said.

The Houston, Texas-based company declined to provide a restart timeline.

Industry monitor IIR Energy expects the fire-damaged unit to be back online by the end of March.

The El Segundo refinery is the second largest in California and Chevron's second-biggest refinery in the United States. The facility supplies a fifth of all motor vehicle fuels and 40% of the jet fuel consumed in southern California.
