CBOT wheat sags after choppy session; ample world supplies cap rallies

ReutersFeb 10, 2026 9:24 PM

- Chicago Board of Trade wheat futures closed fractionally lower after a choppy session on Tuesday, anchored by reminders of plentiful U.S. and world supplies, traders said.

  • CBOT March soft red winter wheat WH26 settled down 1/2 cent at $5.28-1/4 per bushel.

  • K.C. March hard red winter wheat KWH26 ended up 1-3/4 cents at $5.30-1/2 a bushel, gaining against CBOT wheat on inter-market spreading.

  • Minneapolis March spring wheat MWEH26 fell 2-1/4 cents to finish at $5.68-1/4 a bushel.

  • The U.S. Department of Agriculture in a monthly report raised its forecast of U.S. 2025/26 wheat ending stocks to 931 million bushels, up from 926 million last month and bucking trade expectations for a reduction. WASDE05

  • The USDA attributed the higher wheat ending stocks forecast to a reduction in its estimate of domestic food use.

  • The USDA trimmed its forecast of world wheat ending stocks to 277.51 million metric tons, down from 278.25 million last month, while analysts surveyed by Reuters on average had expected almost no change.

  • The USDA's world wheat stocks forecast would still represent a five-year high, "with significant year-to-year increases for all major exporters," the agency said in its report.
