US Plains HRW Wheat-Basis bids unchanged ahead of expected rains

ReutersFeb 10, 2026 4:50 PM

- Basis bids for hard red winter wheat were steady in the U.S. Plains on Tuesday as farmers shied away from selling ahead of rain showers expected over the weekend.

  • Farmer activity has slowed as producers seek to procure fertilizer and apply it ahead of weekend showers so the rain can activate the fertilizer.

  • The rains will deliver needed moisture to the winter wheat crop in the U.S. Plains and parts of the Midwest.

  • Snow in the Black Sea wheat belt is also protecting the crop from winterkill threats.

  • K.C. March HRW wheat futures KWH26 were last up 1-1/2 cents at $5.30-1/4 per bushel as of 10:30 a.m. CT (1630 GMT).
