CHICAGO, Feb 9 (Reuters) - Basis bids for corn were mixed and soybean bids were steady in the U.S. Midwest on Monday as market players awaited the U.S. Department of Agriculture's monthly supply and demand report that will come out on Tuesday.
Chicago soybean futures fell on Monday, pressured by rising competition from South America, snapping last week's rally following U.S. President Donald Trump's remarks that China may buy more beans from the United States.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture is expected to trim its estimate for 2025-26 U.S. soybean ending stocks in a monthly report and keep its corn carryover estimate unchanged from January, according to a Reuters survey of analysts.
The soy basis fell at an Ohio elevator and was steady elsewhere.
The corn basis fell at two river terminals and an elevator and rose at a processor.
Most-active soybeans Sv1 were last down 8-1/4 cents to $11.07 a bushel and most-active corn Cv1 were last down 3 cents to $4.27-1/2 per bushel as of midday.
