CBOT Trends-Wheat steady-down 1 cent, corn and soy down 1-2

ReutersFeb 9, 2026 2:16 PM

- The following are U.S. expectations for the resumption of grain and soy complex trading at the Chicago Board of Trade at 8:30 a.m. CST (1430 GMT) on Monday:

WHEAT - Steady to down 1 cent per bushel

  • CBOT wheat was choppy as traders squared positions ahead of the U.S. Department of Agriculture's world crop and inventory reports due on Tuesday.

  • Increased demand from importers and bad weather in ports supported export prices for Russian wheat last week, offsetting forecasts of a strong new harvest, analysts said.

  • Rainfall is helping to relieve dryness for the winter wheat crop in parts of the U.S. Plains and Midwest.

  • March soft red winter wheat WH26 was last unchanged at $5.29-3/4 per bushel. K.C. March hard red winter wheat KWH26 was last down 1-1/2 cents at $5.29-3/4 per bushel and Minneapolis March spring wheat MWEH26 was last up 3/4 cent at $5.70-3/4 per bushel.

CORN - Down 1 to 2 cents per bushel

  • CBOT corn futures Cv1 fell slightly lower amid quiet trade as market players awaited Tuesday's supply and demand report.

  • Large speculators increased their net short position in Chicago Board of Trade corn futures in the week to February 3, regulatory data released on Friday showed.

  • CBOT March corn CH26 was last down 1-1/4 cents at $4.29 per bushel.

SOYBEANS - Down 1 to 2 cents per bushel

  • CBOT soybeans fell, pressured by rising competition from South America, snapping last week's rally following U.S. President Donald Trump's remarks that China may buy more beans from the United States.

  • Soybeans rose last week after Trump said China was considering raising U.S. soybean purchases to 20 million metric tons for the current season. But dealers remain skeptical as higher prices make it uneconomical for China to purchase U.S. beans.

  • Brazilian farmers had harvested 16% of their 2025/26 soybean crop as of last Thursday, agribusiness consultancy AgRural said on Monday, up 6 percentage points from the previous week and just topping the 15% reported a year earlier.

  • CBOT March soybeans SH26 were down 3/4 cent at $11.14-1/2 per bushel.
