CHICAGO, Jan 20 (Reuters) - Spot basis bids for soybeans strengthened at a few soy processing facilities on Tuesday as well as a river elevator where beans are loaded onto barges for shipment toward Gulf exporters, spot checks showed.
The soybean basis improved by 5 cents a bushel at crushing plants at Morristown and Decatur, Indiana, and by 4 cents at Seneca, Illinois, on the Illinois River.
Chicago Board of Trade March soybean futures SH26 have been recovering slowly after falling to a near three-month low a week ago, chilling farmer sales of the oilseed.
Basis bids for corn were mixed, with the basis firming by 5 cents at an Annawan, Illinois, ethanol plant but falling by 2 cents at Decatur, Illinois, a grain processing hub.
CBOT corn futures steadied by mid-session on Tuesday, paring early declines, while soybean futures firmed. GRA/
As of 11:15 a.m. CST (1715 GMT), CBOT March corn CH26 was up 3/4 cent at $4.25-1/2 per bushel and March soybeans SH26 were up 3-1/2 cents at $10.61-1/4 a bushel. GRA/
