CHICAGO, Dec 12 (Reuters) - Spot basis bids for corn were steady to higher at elevators and processors, flat to lower at river terminals and ethanol plants as futures dipped on Friday, a spot check of locations showed.
CBOT March corn CH26 settled down 5-3/4 cents at $4.40-3/4 per bushel.
Traders shrugged off support from news that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) confirmed sales of 250,000 metric tons of U.S. corn to undisclosed destinations.
Corn exports have been robust this week. The USDA on Tuesday raised its U.S. corn export forecast, as sales of the grain to global buyers have been stronger than anticipated.
Data from the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission showed that managed commodity funds built a massive net long position in CBOT soybean futures by mid-November, leaving the market prone to bouts of long liquidation.
CBOT January soybeans SF26 settled down 16-3/4 cents at $10.76-3/4 per bushel after dipping to $10.75-3/4, the contract's lowest since October 30.
