EUROPE GAS-Gas prices dip on warmer weather next week

ReutersNov 19, 2025 10:13 AM

- Dutch and British wholesale gas prices fell early on Wednesday with forecasts for warmer weather next week curbing demand.

The benchmark Dutch front-month contract at the TTF hub TRNLTTFMc1 was down 0.29 euro at 31.12 euros per megawatt hour (MWh) or $10.55 /mmBtu, by 0942 GMT, LSEG data showed.

The Dutch day-ahead price TRNLTTFD1 was down 0.85 euro at 81.95 euros/MWh.

The British day-ahead contract TRGBNBPD1 was down 0.65 pence at 82.50 p/therm.

"The weather forecasts indicate cold and calm weather across Northern and Central Europe the coming week, but from late next week, the situation appears to somewhat normalize," Mind Energy analysts said.

They added that the market seems unconcerned with the outages in both Norway and Algeria.

LSEG forecasts showed temperatures in Northwest Europe are expected to continue to fall until Saturday, but will then rebound into next week.

"Next week we see a warmer revision of temperature forecast, according to the recent (model) forecast," LSEG analyst Yuriy Onyshkiv said in a daily research note.

Overall European net gas storage withdrawals are expected to increase moderately on Wednesday after a continued increase on Tuesday, but market prices dipped in the morning probably due to the upward revision of temperatures, analysts at Engie EnergyScan said in a research note.

"The market does not yet seem ready to take a definitively bearish stance," they said.

In the European carbon market, the benchmark contract CFI2Zc1 was down 0.69 euro at 80.54 euros a metric ton.
