- Chicago Board of Trade soybean futures fell on Friday after the long-awaited release of a U.S. Department of Agriculture crop report showing supply and demand.

  • Most-active CBOT January soybeans SF26 settled down 22-1/2 cents at $11.24-1/2 per bushel.

  • CBOT December soymeal SMZ25 ended down $5.90 at $322.50 per short ton while December soyoil BOZ25 fell 0.10 cent to finish at 50.15 cents per pound.

  • The USDA projected 2025 U.S. yield at 53.0 bushels per acre, down from 53.5 bpa in September. Production was projected at 4.253 billion bushels, down from 4.301 billion bushels. Analysts had expected the USDA to lower its soy yield outlook to 53.1 bpa, with production expected at 4.266 billion bushels.

  • Analysts said many traders had expected soybean yield numbers to fall even further, which triggered selling.

  • The USDA slightly lowered its U.S. soybean export estimate for the current crop season as China, the world's top soy importer, has largely shunned American shipments amid trade battles between Washington and Beijing.
