JERUSALEM, Oct 22 (Reuters) - Israel's offshore Tamar natural gas field closed on Wednesday for scheduled maintenance that is expected to last about 12 days, the site's operator Chevron CVX.N said.
Tamar is Israel's main domestic gas supplier. The larger Leviathan field off Israel's Mediterranean coast, a key supplier to Egypt and Jordan, remains operational.
"We will continue to produce natural gas and supply customers in Israel and in the region from the Leviathan reservoir," Chevron said in a statement.
Six production wells at Tamar produce volumes of natural gas ranging from 7.1 million cubic meters to 8.5 million cubic meters per day, according to Chevron.
