Crude drone attack hits Mexican govt office in Tijuana, no deaths or injuries

MEXICO CITY, Oct 16 (Reuters) - A Mexican crime group launched a makeshift drone attack on the state attorney general's offices in the northern border city of Tijuana, just across from California, on Wednesday, according to Mexican authorities.

The crude improvised explosive device, which contained nails and pieces of metal, struck outside the office of the attorney general's anti-kidnapping unit, damaging some cars but causing no deaths or injuries, the Baja California state Attorney General Maria Elena Andrade told reporters on Wednesday.

Andrade said that a large organized crime group was behind the attack, but declined to name it.

On Wednesday, the U.S. Consulate in Tijuana issued a security alert over the attack.
