CHICAGO, Oct 16 (Reuters) - Following are U.S. expectations for the resumption of grain and soy complex trading at the Chicago Board of Trade at 8:30 a.m. CDT (1330 GMT) on Thursday.
NOTE: The U.S. government remains shut down, suspending many government reports.
WHEAT - Down 2 to 3 cents per bushel
CBOT wheat Wv1 futures traded lower in early moves, hovering near five-year lows, as ample global grain supplies continue to pressure the market.
Algeria's state grains agency OAIC is believed to have purchased about 400,000 metric tons of durum wheat in an international tender, European traders said. About 90,000 tons of the purchase was believed to involve U.S.-origin durum, with much of the rest believed to involve Canadian-origin durum.
CBOT December soft red winter wheat WZ25 was last down 3 cents at $4.95-3/4 per bushel. K.C. December hard red winter wheat KWZ25 was last down 3-1/2 cents at $4.84-3/4 a bushel and Minneapolis December wheat MWEZ25 last traded down 1-3/4 cents at $5.49-1/4 per bushel.
CORN - Steady to up 1 cent per bushel
Corn futures were little changed at the daily pause in trading, as pressure from the advancing U.S. harvest offset support from short-covering and signs of slow grain sales by farmers.
CBOT December corn CZ25 was last up 1/4 cent at $4.17 per bushel.
SOYBEANS - Up 2 to 3 cents per bushel
Soybean futures Sv1 firmed in early moves on data showing a brisk U.S. soy crushing pace
Rallies were limited by trade tensions between Washington and top global soy buyer China, along with disruptions to U.S. data due to the government shutdown.
The National Oilseed Processors Association reported on Wednesday that its members crushed 197.863 million bushels of soybeans in September, the fourth-highest level for any month on record. The figure topped most analysts' expectations.
China has yet to secure much of its soybean supply for December and January as high premiums for Brazilian cargoes discourage buyers, a development that could prompt Beijing to tap state reserves to meet near-term needs, three trade sources said
CBOT November soybeans SX25 were last up 3-1/4 cents at $10.09-3/4 per bushel.
