MOSCOW, Oct 16 (Reuters) - Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Thursday that Moscow relies on official public statements issued by New Delhi and Beijing regarding oil purchases after U.S. President Donald Trump said that India and China would stop buying Russian oil.
India and China have not publicly confirmed Trump's assertion.
Oil prices rose around 1% on Thursday after Trump said Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had pledged his country would stop buying oil from Russia, a move that could drain supply elsewhere.
