CHICAGO, Oct 8 (Reuters) - Basis bids for hard red winter wheat held steady in the southern U.S. Plains on Wednesday while protein premiums firmed for a few grades, typically a reflection of demand from domestic flour millers.
Cash wheat sales remained slow as K.C. HRW wheat futures hovered near life-of-contract lows.
Producers have been busy harvesting corn, soybeans and sorghum while planting the 2026 winter wheat crop.
Protein premiums for railcar HRW wheat to and through Kansas City rose by 11 cents a bushel for wheat with 12.0% protein and by 4 cents for wheat with 12.2% through 12.8% protein. Premiums for other grades were unchanged. KCBT/SCA
K.C. December hard red winter wheat KWZ25 futures settled up 1-1/4 cents at $4.93-1/4 a bushel.
