MOSCOW, Oct 2 (Reuters) - The Russian-installed management of Ukraine's Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant, which has been cut off from external power for more than a week, was quoted as saying on Thursday that two backup generators will be put into operation within hours after repairs on them are completed.
State news agency TASS quoted the official as saying that the lack of external power posed a threat to nuclear safety, but the situation remained fully under the management’s control and all safety functions were being performed.
The plant is being cooled by emergency diesel generators after an external power line was severed as a result of shelling last week.
